This may be fine for some kinds of trading, swing trading or all day trades you plan to stay in for hours. But not day trading you need to get in and out of quickly.

IBKR is a bitch to integrate with, alpaca is easy. I had the same execution experience with paper trading .. I imagine the live trading execution is better. I ran their scalping demo for a while and web sockets kept crashing. Never had a problem with web requests. Sorry I dont have an answer as I havent used IBKR only Alpaca.
