Our pre-vet club has done a suture clinic (teamed up with local med school), volunteered at a horse rescue and a dog shelter, had animal trainers present, and one time somebody came in to teach us some basic animal first aid/rescue things (think red cross).Then take the key concepts and throw them into a flash card program like Studyblue.com. Before a test, I'll get a stack of blank paper and rewrite everything important with my own diagrams, arrows, little pictures and mnemonic devices. The MCAT covers material that are not pre-requisites for veterinary school; therefore, when the VCAT ended they didn't switch to the MCAT as students would have to take on more of a course load. Professors are allowed to fail students, and several per year at other vet schools are either held back to repeat a year or drop out all together.
