question00 13 Jan 2010. I have been on Lamictal for about a year and a half. I was told that it does not cause weight gain which attracted me to it. Before Lamictal, I took Seroquel and I gained 40 pounds. Since taking Lamictal, I have actually lost around 20 pounds. Without trying.
