I have a CA compliant GSG 1911 22 which has a cover (welded?) over the threaded barrel. I'm not sure how the cover is attached but I can't remove it by screwing it off. I plan on moving to a free state and am wondering if there is a way of removing the cover from the threads without destroying the barrel.
