Super excited for GT7 this Friday. Its gonna be my first GT game so was just wondering how people would say it compares to a sim like Assetto Corsa. I've been playing Assetto for a couple months now and have been enjoying it loads for sure! AC has great physics but little else. It’s a good sim not a good game. GT7 has good physics but loads more.
This is so true. I’ve been a big fan of gran turismo and it taught me a lot of how to skillfully handle the tarmac. Rocket around the first corner as fast as you can take the corner in 4th gear and hit the apex then brake into to the turn you take before the goal. In racing Smooth is fast, fast is smooth. Things like iRacing and ACC simulate the same things as GT (crash physics, damage, traction control, ABS, fuel, tyre wear, pit strategies etc) but in much greater detail. Gran Turismo is more accessible and intended to be enjoyed by all car and motorsport fans, whereas iRacing is for more hardcore sim racers. My biggest gripe, and one that I haven't seen mentioned in any review, is the track/car content. There's just a handful of new tracks, all returns from previous GT games. And the car list is underwhelming with regards to newer models. I’ve all golded every game except GT2/GT7 (haven’t played either yet). Hardest from memory are: GT1: Griffith 500 on SSR11 (6 hours), Supra RZ (4 hours) on the first two turns of Grand Valley, most of the IA tests took around 2-4 hours for me.
