Best way to get wood is unlocking the pit, where you can mine crystals and trade for wood. You can get 700k in like 6-7 hours. But it doesn't unlock until level 17 I believe. Yeah, use gathering, mystery shop, ruins, zombie lair, trading post, arena and do quests/events. Save diamonds for wood and not speedups (dumb but necessary).
