If it spots you it will follow you around for the entire duration, drawing hordes towards you. The single best result you can get from the event is using it to draw the zombies into the countryside and away from a town you’d like to loot. The helicopter will never spawn on world day 1. It will only come on day 6-11. However character day 1 and world day 1 can be really different. On the bright side however, you can just watch your zombified character shamble around till the chopper goes away, then start a fresh character and not worry about the chopper coming at all.
