Chrysler immediately said that the issue was due to a crack in the thermostat housing that was bleeding coolant back into the core. According to the dealer, Chrysler said it is a rapant issue (although my dealer has never encountered one) and the part is on back order. yeah, the middle is a bit high for the 3.6L especially if you are driving. But like you, normal temps for my 3.6 is just slightly above the 1/4 line.
