For Dex/Pyro, you obviously need high dex to utilize the casting speed increase, and the high dex will go to waste if you don't do +15 with enchant, in my opinion. So, 1. Dex/end/vit max and use gold or charred resin 2. dex, with lower end and vit in favor of a 4th stat (int/faith) and use crystal weapon/sunlight blade.
If so, homeward is definitely worth it. Spend all your souls on getting that flame ascended ,just level up so you get stats to use the weapon you want. You would want to change this weapon into either chaos or lightning also. You need to get the flame to +10 , kill spider bitch in blight town , then see the pyromancer lady that appears in blight town.
As for weapons (just for variety - again it's possible to beat the whole game with only pyro) there aren't dedicated pyro weapons in the early game, but you can go for Hand Axe for DS1 nostalgia. In late game you have more options: Demon's Scar, Onyx Blade and Witch's Locks are all solid pyro weapons.

Most OP setup in the game are sharp infused sellswords with 40 dex and lightning bundles. You should already have everything you need for your pyro build before you have access to lightning bundles, so just use charcoal bundles instead.
