The machine layouts vary as I try new techniques, but it’s always something that I can repeat upwards as my resources increase. As long as your total input is consumed, this can be considered 'efficient'. Early game, the recipes work out so that most of the time, you can arrange units so that every unit can run at 100%. But as things get more complicated later, you may have to over/under-clock certain things to achieve a balance between total input and consumption.

A 100% efficient factory has 100% output capacity (the little gear on the GUI of each building) on every single production machine, including the last step, which in this case are Reinforced Iron Plates. This means that a 100% efficient factory won't have any surpluses or shortages as I already said before.

The best setup I've found for limestone so far is using a mark 2 miner on a pure node overclocked to 188%. That produces 450 limestone/minute which can be split to exactly 10 concrete constructors to make exactly 150 concrete per minute at 100% efficiency. 8.
