I do study Spanish aside from Duolingo though, and I do still have interest in learning the language, I'm just not sure that Duolingo is the place for me anymore with the forced path. It sucks, but I'll study Spanish elsewhere. If you're not interested in doing that, maybe try another language. There is more to the test than vocabulary, though. Duolingo covers A1, A2, B1, B2 _material_ but requires practice outside Duolingo to pass A1/A2/B1/B2 language placement tests tests, especially speaking and unguided writing.
