Dodge durango intermittent starting problem.

Mar 6, 2017 · My guess is the pump is the issue. Repop pumps, like sensors and thermostats, aren't very good. Try priming it by pressing the start button with no brake for a few seconds. Then if it starts with the brake / Start button then it's the fuel pump not holding it's pressure. Dec 9, 2020 · 2015 DDRT intermittent will not start. My 2015 Durango RT occasionally will not start. The starter cranks, but it just will not start. Has happened twice in the last 2 weeks...both after a 15-20 minute drive in relatively cold weather (25-35 degrees). Shut it off, run my errand, and upon return it will not start. No problem with the exhaust hitting the underbody. Tried remote start while under the car to no avail. Thought about the sub woofer and removed the 27 and 37 fuses which power the radio and sub woofer to no avail. No check engine light illuminated and no codes stored. Some of the behavior suggests a battery problem and I note you replaced the battery and the engine started and ran a bit but then died. Most of the time it will crank for about 20-30 seconds then start. Occasionally it will crank for half a second then shut off and when it does this it always starts right up as normal. We experience these starting issues frequently (every 3rd start +/-) but not any specific pattern.

My Son recently purchased a beautiful 2012 Dodge Durango with 13,000 miles on it. After a few weeks he started to experience intermittent problems starting the car. It. would startup and then shutoff after 5 seconds. Tried to restart car it would just turn and. turn as if out of gas. It would eventually start and then we would experience the same.

Fast forward to this week, and the intermittent start issue is back. Sometimes the truck starts on the first key turn, sometimes it starts on the 4th or 5th. Never cranks, just clicks once. Then this morning it just didn't start. Clicked once each key turn for about 10 cycles.

So the problem I’m having is intermittent starting. It always starts if it cranks. Battery is good. Starter is new. I believe the signal is not getting to the starter. It’s not random and it’s not mechanical within the ignition switch. It always starts first drive of the day or if it’s been sitting for longer than 20 minutes after driving.Let everything cool for 1/2 hour and it was back to normal. Repeated several times (drop to Empty, slowly return) all the way down Cal 99 as the temps stayed in the 90's and 100's. Once we got back to more reasonable temps, fuel readings returned to normal. Check all the connections between the starter and battery. You could also check voltage drop when you engage the starter, both at the battery and also on the starter motor lead.
