I am playing through Lord of Nothing and am part way through dungeon in the shadow plane. I am stuck on what I assume is a puzzle where there's a cloud of shadow in a room full of trophies from the kyton's victims. When I interact with the cloud I get this text, "The clouds of impenetrable darkness thicken, as if playing with you.

I liked the option. As other people have said, it makes roughly a 1-2 level difference late game. And the extra sellable loot helps with a lot of things. But even early on, getting new levels a bit earlier than players not using that option makes fights easier.
