It can be a little messy, but I change the filter again at the half way point in the Fall. I ride year round here in Arizona, so I'm not concerned about it sitting over the Winter. Yes, there are 2 drain bolts and both must be removed to fully drain the oil. The bike should be on the kickstand to drain fully.
