SWTOR is a little rough around the edges, and is sometimes too ambitious for it's own good regarding story, especially considering the nature of an MMO where everyone's main character is completely different. KOTOR 1. It makes more sense in light of Kotor 2's world and atmosphere. A Republic on the brink of collapse, Jedi nearly extinct, the Sith running loose, etc. all fit perfectly with the DS ending of Kotor 1.
