Jeep patriot transmission temperature warning light.

I have a 08 Jeep Patriot. Today while driving on the highway my transmission oil temperature light came on. This has never happened. I read online that maybe I should get a transmission flush or change. Has anyone had this issue. I just hope it’s nothing expensive. TIAI have a Black Jeep Patriot and just recently this year 2021 it started to happen in 80 degrees and above even if I have the a/c on for 15 minutes sometimes to an hour my check engine light comes on and my vehicle drops in rpms and it's really hard to to drive so I get home turn it off usually next day with no a/c on the light goes off.I've had this issue with my 08 patriot (trans heat light, excessive whining, limp transmission).
