I read a little about the Lectron Carbs. They're big in the DRZ400 community, about as well mentioned as the FCR39. The self adjusting feature relies on the airflow on the metering rod, similar to that of an airplane wing. The leading edge is rounded, the trailing edge is flat.Posted September 20, 2004. They are a great full throttle carby, but doubt they would work well on a dirt bike application. Same experience here. Great drag race carb where max airflow is important, but a real PITA carb when you have lots of throttle transitions. A well tuned FCR is really tough to beat.Many options for the DRZ-S as previously stated but to include replacing the stock CV carb with an FCR carb. Thinner E model head gasket (need to use 91 octane) is a popular mod too. Basically you can convert the motor over to an E model motor with head gasket, FCR carb, E cam(s), E header (and can for that matter).THE LAB. Paying $1k for a lectron just isn't worth the hassle of buying one, buying the air boot adapter if required, etc. Another thing (I find a bit misleading) is that lectron makes it sound like you'll never have to touch your carb again, but the metering rod and slider gasket do need some attention periodically.
