the 6speed are electronically limited at 6200 rpm, the autos are 6100rpm. regardless, 100rpm is hardly even noticed. both the 6 speed and auto are limited (due to drag and hp-weight ratio) at around 174-176mph. so like you said, there is no electronic speed limiters on the SRT's, only aerodynamics and weight.

An optional engine controller is available that limits speed to 130. Both top speeds are higher than I come near hitting. At 797 horses, it's just as at home on the drag strip as it is on the interstate. The top speed is 203 mph. The 0-60 mph acceleration is 3.4 seconds. It can do a quarter mile in 10.8 seconds at a speed of 131 mph. The R/T Scat Pack Challenger has a much more modest 485 horsepower but is just as impressive.

That is a huge difference at speed. Given that the 426 is at least a match for the 6.1, I would say that there is little doubt in the 180 mph claim. Its about $600 plus the tuner. From the few that Ive seen tuned, the RT tops out in the high 150's MPH. From a basic canned tune, you gain about 20-25 HP and remove the limiters.
