Make sure your equipment is attached to the gun. Once I saw when I entered DMZ that my attachments were bugged and not attached. Go into the weapons bench and reattach them. Also you can use 5 attachments. I recommended incendiary rounds. Bring an ammo box I had to kill a ton of armored bots solo to get helicopters to come.

I tired exfil my insured weapons in different slots, contraband in different slots as well so contraband found in the current run. Non of these worked. I also tried dead droppin guns with no look. I was wondering if this is a bug that happens a lot where you select 2 weapons (Squall and FJX) most often this combo. You enter DMZ and then notice that you only have the secondary weapon available. When you then have some bad luck or crappy shooting (from my part) you die and have 2 weapons on cooldown.
