A mage is bad ass in pve, since he can just cast a shitload of spells while standing on the other side of drangleic....other than that builds with powerstanced greatswords (more or less for bosses) or thrusting sword + leo ring + rob + flynn + doesitreallymatter does tons of dmg. Pump Vigor, best stat in the game by miles. Scaling is pretty weak. No need for magic. Decent stamina pool and some Adp to not have crippled roll iframes (get Agility to 88 or 92 asap, pump it to 96 towards the midgame, finish it off at 99 or 105; it translates to about 25-33 Adp).Dragon chime is the best miracle chime by far, but it has high requirements. The starting cleric chime or the one found in the lost Bastille are both decent choices as well. One is slightly faster and the other is slightly more powerful. As for early weapons, lighting rapier or mace both wreck face.Combine that with 150 counter strength and low stamina consumption, you'll be able to tank hits and make whoever hit you regret it. I think keeping your weight total very low combined with Flynn/RoB/Stone ring is a good start, and maxing up STR and DEX whenever possible. I like mixing it up and infusing it with Magic.

You can level forever and it won't matter in PvP or Co-op, it's based on total souls gained. 2) Pure strength builds have been somewhat nerfed overall.
