Normal and zombie. Normal, is when your wound gets infected by dirty bandages, being dirty and so on. This can be overcome by antibiotics, disinfection and in general eating and sleeping. This is not fatal if treated. Zombie infection on the other hand is always fatal. Scratches 7%, lacerations 25% and bites 100%.

If your health reaches zero because of a bleeding wound you should not turn into a zombie. The second way that a bite can kill you is through an infected wound.
Dec 14, 2022 · I was bitten and got sick, died but did not turn zomboid. I started a new character and found my corpse still laying in the grass for days. I've disabled blood infection, saliva only, thought I got bit but I just got a laceration and scratches, but symptoms of the Knox infection started kicking in and eventually I turned. This is how you can survive being bitten by a zombie in Project Zomboid.
So without mods it's always 100%. Actually it was a bug that was long since fixed, but the rumor was pretty much allowed to circulate until they did finally confirm that bites are now and were always intended to be 100% chance. Scratch is 7%, Laceration is 25%, and Bite is 100%. But you can get injured by stuff besides zombies, you know. Falls, broken glass, tripping on your ass when you're tired and uncoordinated, car crashes are a big one. You can also get sick, though I'm not sure if First Aid can help with that.
