Clarkston, michigan. 6.9 IDI will not start. I recently purchased 1987 Ford E350 w/ 6.9 IDI and a Banks Turbo. 94,000 miles. Vehicle sat a long time w/o starting (possible 2-3 yrs). I purchased truck becaused I've always wanted a diesel (this is my first) and 6.9 IDI posts suggest this a strong, reliable, not to fancy power plant.i did it last summer, about 40% wmo and it ran perfectly. a tiny bit rougher to tart but nothing horrible especially when its warm outside. i mixed a drum of oil and diesel, then pumped it from the bottom of the drum through a 1 micron filter back into the drum. i let it run like this for about an hour. i mix it first so it will run through the filter. as you can …1. I'd guess that the harness at the tank selector is what you'd need to rewire. Determine which pair of wires goes to the sender for the tank that you are going to keep and wire those directly to the sender in that tank.
