You'll hear a change in the hydraulic sound and the engine will lug a bit. Then you can turn the knob. And the knob only turns clockwise.

I fact I couldn't tell if there was any moment at all. The rear 3-point goes up and down, but not the center. If it is in the TOP position, it will not go down as it is locked in the up position. The knob turns from the lower numbers through to the larger numbers i.e..
