You really did a very nice job with that Remington. A couple of years ago found a M12 Winchester for $200 and after finding an original trench gun barrel, I did a similar conversion. While I had a bit of a time locating a heat shield, I see it was nothing compared to what you had to go through to make the handguard for yours.

The 3 screws that hold the shroud to the barrel are slightly worn but functional. The overall condition is good. I will also include the magazine tube plug and screw needed in order to mount the shroud.

Norinco 1897 trench gun heat shield keeps wandering forward under recoil. I plan on milling out the screw threads and taping for a larger size thread that will actually protrude more. It has the incorrect heat shield and magazine tube for a trench gun. It still has the riot gun barrel band, takedown lever, and magazine tube on it (trench guns don't have these features). The original trench gun is 20" and theres to room to spare in front of the mag tube, so Im thinking the 1897 heat shield/ bayo lug wont fit. Hi, I have a chance to get this Winchester 1897 and am trying to gather info it. I looked up the serial number and it seems to be a 1920-21 production. I hope someone could tell me if this is a trench gun or a riot ? It does have a 4 row heat shield and I noticed on the bottom of the grip is stamped a RA. Anyone know what that means?
